Biography :
Christian Jacq was born in Paris in 1947 and discovers Egypt thanks to a lot of readings when he was 13. Four years later, he comes for the first time to the country of the Pharaohs to his honeymoon. After philosophy and liteture studies, he goes towards archeology and egyptology and gets a doctorate in egyptology studies in Sorbonnes with the subject : "Le voyage dans l'autre monde selon l'Egypte ancienne". But more than anything, Christian Jacq wants to write and publishes about twenty essaies as L'Egypte des grands Pharaons in the Perrin academic Bookshop in 1981. This essay was prizewon by the French Academy. He's also the exclusive producer at France-Culture and notably works for "les Chemins de la connaissance".
1987 was waited so that the succes comes, with the novel Champollion l'Egyptien. From now, Egypt and writing take anything place in his life. His books move a lot of readers, in France and in abroad.
He created the Ramsès institut to make with his partners a "description photographique de l'Egypte" in order to protect threatened sites, and manages many missions on this land. He has then a triple career : egyptologist, essayist and novelist that always bring him towards antique Egypt.
Christian Jacq's works are translated in more than thirty languages.

- Christian Jacq, né à Paris en 1947, découvre l'Egypte à l'âge de treize ans, à travers ses lectures, et se rend pour la première fois au pays des pharaons quatre ans plus tard, lors de son voyage de noces. Après des études de philosophie et de lettres classiques, il s'oriente vers l'archéologie et l'égyptologie, et obtient un doctorat d'études égyptologiques en Sorbonnes avec pour sujet de thèse : "Le voyage dans l'autre monde selon L'Egypte ancienne." Mais plus que tout, Christian Jacq veut écrire et publie une vingtaine d'essais, dont L'Egypte des grands pharaons à la Librairie académique Perrin en 1981, couronné par l'Académie française. Il faut attendre 1987 pour que le succès arrive, avec un roman, Champollion l'Egyptien. L'Egypte et l'écriture prennent désormais toute leur place dans sa vie. Ses romans suscitent la passion des lecteurs, en France et à l'étranger.
Créateur de l'institut Ramsès, Christian Jacq a effectué avec son équipe une "descriptrion photographique de l'Egypte" destinée à préserver les sites menacés, et mène de fréquentes missions sur le terrain. Il poursuit ainsi une triple carrière d'égyptologue, d'essayiste et de romancier, qui le ramène toujours à l'Egypte ancienne.
